Tax Rates & Allowances

On 13 May, Chancellor Alistair Darling announced an increase in the personal allowance of £600 - to £6,035. The change will be backdated to 6 April 2008 and will go through payrolls in September, when basic rate taxpayers will receive an extra £60, with a further £10 every month thereafter. At the same time, the higher rate threshold will be reduced by £1,200 to £34,800.

These changes are reflected in our Tax Tables, which may be subject to further amendment during the passage of the Finance Bill through Parliament.

National Insurance rates and Personal allowances for 2008-09 have been announced.
